The first details on the release of LEGO Ideas’ E.T. set have surfaced, suggesting the buildable character will be phoning home later this year – but at a smaller scale than expected.
Lafabrick’s E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial was given the green light in the first LEGO Ideas 2025 review, and is currently in the process of being turned into an official LEGO set in Billund. Brick Clicker now reports (via BrickMerge) that 21370 E.T. will debut on August 1, 2026, with 1,226 pieces in the box and a retail price of $129.99 in the US.

That’s a considerable step down in piece count from Lafabrick’s original submission, which realises the ‘80s movie icon using 2,990 parts. Those are divided between 2,662 for E.T. himself, 318 for his flowerpot accessory and 10 for the sweets Elliot uses to lure the alien to him. The piece count for the official LEGO set, by comparison, is roughly half the amount devoted to just E.T.
The LEGO Ideas team regularly reworks successful submissions to a substantial degree, and while the details reported here have yet to be officially confirmed, it wouldn’t be that surprising to see the LEGO Group targeting a wider audience with a more accessible version of E.T. For comparison’s sake, fellow ‘80s buildable character 21361 Gremlins: Gizmo comes in at 1,125 pieces for £89.99 / $109.99 / €99.99.
If you’ve been paying attention to recent LEGO Ideas rumours, you might recall that 21370 was briefly attached to an unannounced Knight Rider set earlier this week. The original source of that rumour quickly removed the corresponding listing, and this latest update pours even more water on that particular fire, so we really will just have to sit tight for the results of the second 2025 review to find out whether K.I.T.T. has made the cut.
For now, here’s a reminder of every LEGO Ideas set currently in production. Head here for a list of LEGO Ideas sets on the slate for 2026, which includes January's 21365 Love Birds and March's 21376 Orange Cat.
