A LEGO Insiders Weekend GWP is inspired by two Classic Castle LEGO sets, so let's see what's changed over the last couple of decades.
40775 Mini Knight's Castle is due to launch for Insiders Weekend 2025 on November 22, available on qualifying purchases over £225 / $250 / €250 for LEGO Insiders. It's inspired by two Classic Castle sets: 6073 Knight's Castle from 1984 and 6086 Black Knight’s Castle from 1992 – but it changes quite a lot from the original models.
Of course, it's rendered at a completely different scale, with 40775 Mini Knight's Castle being a microscale version of the larger minifigure-scale castles. Nonetheless, there are some creative building techniques that pick out some recognisable features from the OG castles.
The general structure is certainly there, with all the right towers and turrets in the right places. To recreate the two castles' windows on such a small scale, there's some clever use of exposed Technic connectors, as well as a tiny grill to mimic the original drawbridge in 6086 Black Knight’s Castle.
Each faction is also represented in a tiny jousting horse, complete with coloured tiles to replicate the livery from the original sets. Even the grey details on the battlements of 6086 Black Knight’s Castle is reflected in the colour choices, as well as simple green tiles in a nod to the printed greenery around the base of rhe original build.
Despite naturally being a much more simplified version of the buildable castles, 40775 Mini Knight's Castle is a fairly faithful recreation of the original classic sets. The only features missing are the extra horses and minifigures included in the full sets, but the two horses and riders we do get are artfully designed enough that you don't really notie that they're the only ones there.
