Five things we spotted in LEGO Disney Beauty and the Beast castle

The new LEGO Disney Beauty and the Beast castle is just as detailed as the Cinderella castle sets before it, and we've spotted five clever details.

LEGO Disney 43263 Beauty and the Beast Castle has been officially revealed with a suite of images to analyse while we wait for the massive model to be released next month. While it's not nearly as big as either 71040 The Disney Castle or 43222 Disney Castle, the Beauty and the Beast build is sure to be popular with Disney enthusiasts, and it's evident that the designers are fans like the rest of us.

Here are five interesting details we spotted in the new LEGO Disney set to help educate you and pass the time until 43263 Beauty and the Beast Castle launches on April 1 for LEGO Insiders or April 4 widely for £239.99 / $279.99 / €279.99.

Statues under the table

The table that holds the enchanted rose isn't just a simple structure, as a nanofigure is featured underneath the table, representing the small statues that hold the rose up in the animated movie. Paired with the mirror that also appears on the table, it's about as accurate as you can get at this scale.

Upside down doors

Whether it's a reference or a mistake is unclear, but the bottom floor of 43263 Beauty and the Beast Castle has two doors that seem to lead to the two towers on either side of the entrance. Notably, these doors appear upside down in official imagery. Every other time the new wooden door piece has been used, they've been the other way around, but not in the Disney build.

A multi-purpose grand hall

The grand hall with the red staircase is designed to detach from the bottom floor, and this serves multiple purposes. It can be turned around to be visible when you open the doors on the front of the set or displayed separately as a standalone diorama showcasing Belle and Beast.

Two handles for Chip

Chip Potts' mug form is featured in the new set as a printed piece, using the existing mug element. Notably, the print is on the side of the mug without a handle, but the handle forms Chip's nose while he is a mug. While it might seem like an odd decision not to place a print on the other side, this is precisely how it was done in 2021's 43196 Belle and the Beast's Castle. It may be due to an issue with printing on that side of the element in the LEGO factories.

A build borrowed from Rivendell

The minifigures in 43263 Beauty and the Beast Castle are more detailed than the box suggests. Starting with Belle, a sitting dress build is included when you want to place Belle in the dining room for an iconic scene. This is a build that has been borrowed from 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell, and it still works excellently.

Beast's human form

Similarly, Beast's first minifigure covers his alternate form too, as a separate head is included to switch Beast from monster to human. A hair piece for his human form is even included in a storage space at the top of 43263 Beauty and the Beast Castle.
