Two of the LEGO Star Wars SMART Play-compatible sets are designed to be standalone more than the rest, thanks to stand-in builds.
It's no secret that LEGO Star Wars will be the first theme to debut SMART Play on March 1, featuring a trio of All-in-One sets, featuring the all-important SMART brick, as well as models to use them in. There are also going to be five other LEGO Star Wars sets which have features compatible with SMART Play, but only include SMART tags and minifigures, not the brick itself.
The minifigures and tags cannot function without a SMART brick, meaning fans wanting to experience everything in the compatible models will need to pick up one of the All-in-One models as well to get a SMART brick. The good news is that two of these compatible models include a stand-in build.

The set's two SMART brick stand-ins for these spots include a boombox measuring 5 plates tall, as well as a decorated tile to fill just enough space on the drink mixer. Both inclusions help to fill in the scene when fans don't have a SMART brick in their collection.
In both cases, these stand-in builds have seemingly been included to ensure that the sets can still be playable and make sense without a SMART brick, yet still encourage you to pick one up to experience everything the set has to offer. It's interesting to see the LEGO Group go that far with this new SMART Play system, especially when these are the only two sets to include proper stand-ins for the SMART brick.
You can pre-order all eight LEGO Star Wars SMART Play sets now, but with double points coming tomorrow, you might want to wait a few more hours.
