The LEGO Group says there’s more to come from its new Shrek theme, promising ‘lots more LEGO Shrek magic’ following the reveal of its first two sets.
That paves the way for more to come from everybody’s favourite grumpy green ogre, and indeed the theme’s Creative Lead at the LEGO Group has suggested as much in the press release for these first sets.
“Shrek has always celebrated imagination, friendship, and a little bit of mischief, which are values that translate perfectly into LEGO play,” said Raquel Ojeda. “We’re ogre the moon to partner with this beloved universe and see how fans build their own fairy-tale adventures. This is just the beginning, so keep your eyes peeled for lots more LEGO Shrek magic!”
A series of LEGO Shrek Collectible Minifigures is currently rumoured for September, filling the final slot of blind-boxed characters for 2026 (following 71051 Series 28 Animals and 71052 Series 29), but there’s no word yet – whether official or rumoured – on anything beyond that. Pairing a large 18+ set with a Minifigures series is an approach most recently taken by Dungeons & Dragons, though nothing more has emerged from that franchise yet.
It’ll be interesting to see what else is in store for LEGO Shrek in 2026 and beyond, particularly with Shrek 5 currently scheduled to debut on June 30, 2027. The first LEGO Shrek sets are buildable display models, but if more minifigures beyond Puss in Boots are in the works for later this year, the door would seem open to a full wave of playsets for next year’s sequel. We’re just speculating there, of course...
