LEGO May 2026 sets: everything you need to know before you buy

LEGO Star Wars fans are in for a bumper May, but there’s more hitting shelves next month than the latest sets from a galaxy far, far away. Here’s everything you should know before you buy…

All eyes are on May the 4th and the bonanza of deals, freebies and new sets it entails at this time of year, but there’s a lot more to consider when mapping out your shopping list for May 2026, from Disney and Editions to Jurassic Park and a brand new series of Collectible Minifigures.

We’ve got everything you need to know about all the major new releases here, including whether they’re worth your attention, with input from the Brick Fanatics team and the wider community.

75442 The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter and 40917 The Darksaber

Theme: Star Wars Price: £229.99 / $249.99 / €249.99 Pieces: 1,809 Release date: May 1, 2026

The annual LEGO Star Wars extravaganza is upon us once again, this year headlined by 75442 The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter and 40917 The Darksaber. That’s apt for a very Mando and Grogu-flavoured May the 4th event, with a full wave of sets debuting a few days earlier (more on those here) – but is this Ultimate Collector Series set worth your time, space and, most importantly, budget?

Odd timing aside (Din Djarin has the Razor Crest back for the movie so is presumably ditching the N-1), this Book of Boba Fett UCS set captures the salvaged Naboo Starfighter at a substantial scale and with an impressive level of detail. Much of that is owed to the 53 drum-lacquered silver elements along the front end, but also the fun greebles like the Uruk-Hai sword in light grey and Super Battle Droid arms.

40917 The Darksaber, meanwhile, is free with all LEGO Star Wars purchases above £145 / $160 / €160 from May 1 to 6 (or while stocks last), and is among the biggest and best buildable lightsaber hilts yet.

What are people saying?

75442 The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter may not have been at the top of many fans’ wishlists for UCS sets, but like other sets in that category – the Landspeeder, for instance – the LEGO Star Wars team has made a decent case for why you should care about it.

“Certain vehicles really benefit from a large-scale Ultimate Collector Series model and the N-1 Starfighter is undoubtedly among them. This fighter is famously streamlined and organic in its shape, which makes it particularly challenging to build an accurate iteration at minifigure-scale, while this version looks very faithful to the source material and beautiful on display.”

Brickset

This is the first UCS set since 2013 not to include any exclusive minifigures, although Jeansversion is right on the money in saying: “I don’t know what more they could have done.” Din Djarin is already as detailed as it gets in the rest of this latest LEGO Star Wars wave, and there’s not much room to improve further on the new Grogu mould. Perhaps the biggest issue with the set that reviewers have picked up on (beyond the price) is the sticker sheet.

“I actually don't mind these two yellow faded sticker details in the front. But really, it's these stickers on the sides of the cockpit and then on the tail that almost ruin the LEGO set for me. I don't know if it's because of the more flat nature of this ship that they stand out more, like they protrude more. They leave a little shadow. It’s a very visible outline.”

Jeansversion

We’ve got our hands on 40917 The Darksaber, meanwhile, and it’s a worthwhile May the 4th GWP if ever there was one – as well as proof that small LEGO Star Wars sets don’t need to be simple.

“This is an authentic and detailed study of the Darksaber, weaving into its relatively small piece count an impressive amount, both in terms of giving you an excellent understanding of this particular lightsaber hilt’s design, and also some enlightening LEGO build techniques along the way. Genuinely, a couple of the effects worked into this model are ingenious.”

Brick Fanatics

Paired with the exclusive 5010320 The Mandalorian and Grogu Display, the Darksaber makes 75442 The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter a pretty tempting purchase for May the 4th. Without those freebies in tow, it’s not quite as attractive at full price, so best to either buy day one or wait a little while. – Chris

77984 Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler

Theme: Jurassic World Price: £179.99 / $199.99 / €199.99 Pieces: 1,924 Release date: May 7, 2026

Representing the first-ever 18+ version of the iconic movie ride, 77984 Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler is a very faithful take on the car that can also be customised to represent one of four different versions of the vehicle. Skidding into view next month with 1,924 pieces for £179.99 / $199.99 / €199.99, the LEGO Jurassic World set is packed with Easter eggs and accessories, plus its own side build, printed information plaque and exclusive new Dennis Nedry minifigure.

What are people saying?

There’s been almost universal praise for 77984 Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler, with many flagging up the overall accuracy of the set as a movie build, with wider appreciation of the model as an impressive vehicular build in its own right.

“Not only should this set please Jurassic Park fans, but it’ll also satisfy car enthusiasts who want to add a beefy Jeep Wrangler to their collection.”

Brick Fanatics

Reviews go on to highlight the LEGO Jurassic World set’s build quality and the ability to change the look of the set depending on how you’d like to display the model, although 77984 Jurassic Park Jeep Wrangler’s reliance on quite a few stickers does come in for some criticism.

“It's a solid set (literally and figuratively) with a sturdy construction, decent accuracy and multiple options for customisation. At £179.99 / $199.99 / €199.99, the reliance on stickers may feel inappropriate to many, but considering how many printed pieces would have been required to complete all four versions, I can see why this route was chosen.”

43301 Toy Story Slinky Dog Bookends

Theme: Disney Price: £139.99 / $149.99 / €149.99 Pieces: 1,311 Release date: May 1, 2026

LEGO Disney 43301 Toy Story Slinky Dog Bookends continues the LEGO Group's multi-theme range of bookshelf builds with some Toy Story representation. This model also provides a chance to give us a minifigure-scale Slinky Dog. That figure is destined to be the star of 43301 Toy Story Slinky Dog Bookends, but there’s more to consider here too.

What are people saying?

First impressions of this set from reviewers have been a mixed bag. While there’s plenty of love for the Slinky Dog figure, which is said to be worth the wait, the rest of the model leaves something to be desired for the high price. One review proposes that the age range displayed on the box is incorrect, and that this set is best for kids. – Jack

“As an adult collector, of both LEGO and books, this isn’t something I see putting on my shelf. It certainly takes up a bit more space, and my personal connection to the character is thin at best. What this set is good for, however, is my daughters’ reading space. It’s quirky, it’s fun and is filled with bright colour that matches their aesthetic. This isn’t a set for adults, but for kids.”

11506 Rocking Plants

Theme: Botanicals Price: £17.99 / $19.99 / €19.99 Pieces: 253 Release date: May 1, 2026

Following up on 10349 Happy Plants is no easy task, but 11506 Rocking Plants is up to the challenge by incorporating more play potential into the adorable characters. Whether 11506 Rocking Plants will be quite as successful as the happy duo has yet to be seen, but for now, 2025’s unique set has bloomed into a collection.

What are people saying?

The first reviews of 11506 Rocking Plants are positive, save for the integrated play feature. Many early reviewers would prefer that these potted characters are just as static as the first, and others take issue with the recreated plants. Despite the criticisms, 11506 Rocking Plants has made a good first impression overall. – Jack

“I don't find the delosperma attractive and pastel pink is not my favorite colour, so overall, I do prefer the visual appeal of Happy Plants. I suspect I will play with Rocking Plants more, however. I'm very glad to have both and, although I received the Rocking Plants for free, I did buy my own Happy Plants at the time and suspect the same would be true of the Rocking Plants.”

71052 Series 29

Theme: Minifigures Price: £3.49 / $4.99 / €3.99 per box Pieces: 567 Release date: May 1, 2026

A new series of LEGO Minifigures hits shelves May 1, and it’s the first since January 2025 to introduce a varied collection of 12 original characters. In between we’ve had F1 cars, Spider-Verse heroes and animal costumes – but none of those have quite hit the heights of 71052 Series 29. There’s a little something to suit all tastes here, whether you’re feeling nostalgic about vintage themes or are looking for fun accessories to add to your collection.

What are people saying?

Early reviews zero in on the universality of this line-up, which – like the best in-house Minifigures series – focuses on variety above all else. Rambling Brick has a nice breakdown of the mix of characters:

“We have six female characters, four male, a robot dinosaur and a trash monster. There are six minifigures with dual-moulded legs. There are six minifigures with their hair incorporated with another accessory such as a hat, hood or snorkel, five minifigures with an animal included (even if one is made of chocolate and another is a fly printed on a tile), one with dual-moulded arms, five with printed arms, and seven with printed accessories.”

Rambling Brick

While you may need broad or perhaps eclectic interests to enjoy every single character in Series 29 equally, chances are there are going to be at least one or two worth picking up in this batch, which happily continues to be resistant to price increases across the board.

“Series 29 is a solid line-up of minifigures and a welcome return to the classic formula where there is something for everyone. LEGO BIONICLE and LEGO NINJAGO fans have their chase minifigure, as do LEGO Castle fans in a way, with the Unicorn Elf. The Monster Hunter will be a hit with fans who love the LEGO Monster Fighters theme, steampunk, or medieval fantasy like D&D.”

43307 Alien with Pizza Planet Rocket Ride

Theme: Disney Price: £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99 Pieces: 714 Release date: May 1, 2026

The new LEGO Disney Toy Story range couldn’t miss out on the opportunity to depict everyone’s favourite toy from Pizza Planet. The iconic alien has been depicted as a buildable LEGO figure for the first time in 43307 Alien with Pizza Planet Rocket Ride. It’s a more affordable LEGO Toy Story display option at £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99 with wide appeal, to boot.

What are people saying?

It’s nothing but good news in the early reviews for 43307 Alien with Pizza Planet Rocket Ride. Impressions state that the set is fair value, fun to play with, and looks great on display. All it’s missing is an alien minifigure, but it’s not left lacking without one. – Jack

“I find this product truly successful; it has a very ‘cartoonish' look, offers an interesting building experience, and its decorative potential is obvious. We won't really be playing with the carousel, but we can't fault LEGO for doing its job by offering a feature that adds a bit of complexity to the build.”

Ferrari Formula 1 helmets

Theme: Editions Price: £79.99 / $89.99 / €89.99 Pieces: 884 and 886 Release date: May 1, 2026

Formula 1 is breaking into LEGO Editions this May with two new sets, including 43022 Scuderia Ferrari HP Lewis Hamilton Helmet and 43014 Scuderia Ferrari HP Charles Leclerc Helmet. At 884 and 886 pieces respectively, the round helmet recreations pay tribute to Formula 1 like no other LEGO set and even include exclusive minifigures of real drivers. It’s a promising concept for this fledgling theme.

What are people saying?

While 43022 Scuderia Ferrari HP Lewis Hamilton Helmet looks good on paper, the first reviews for these sets are mixed. They don’t deny that the build is involving and interesting, and the value doesn’t feel off, but some lacking and flimsy features let down this set.

“Overall, it's a bit of a mixed bag. It has a great and complex build, lots of clever solutions, tons of printed parts, lots of unique elements, a unique minifigure, and even spare stickers for the visor. It seems to be a complete package, but there are no minifigure helmets, limited part reusability and still some compromises in the final look.”

Racing Brick

The reviews of 43014 Scuderia Ferrari HP Charles Leclerc Helmet are the same as those for the Lewis Hamilton helmet, citing the same issues and praising the same features. From the flimsy aspects of the model to the exciting build process, these two builds are alike for better or worse. – Jack

“Construction is more involved than it is for many models of this size and not something I'd want to repeat any time soon, if I'm honest. But once it's done, the model looks fantastic and it's not so big that it's difficult to display.”

43306 Lotso

Theme: Disney Price: £34.99 / $39.99 / €39.99 Pieces: 570 Release date: May 1, 2026

It may come as something of a surprise that we’ve yet to receive a brick-built version of the nefarious Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear, but that’s all about to change. 43306 Lotso is a 570-piece creation priced at £34.99 / $39.99 / €39.99 that lands on May 1, one that features a remarkably faithful interpretation of the Toy Story 3 character, complete with articulated head, arms, hands and legs, and a walking stick accessory.

What are people saying?

There seems to be a lot of love out there for 43306 Lotso, with reviews noting that the set is fairly compact and makes good use of its limited piece count, the lack of any stickers whatsoever and the many Easter eggs the LEGO Disney design team has managed to cram inside the character.

“There's no need to make a big deal out of this product, which I find quite successful; the subject is handled correctly on a reasonable scale, and the whole thing has obvious decorative potential that should appeal to fans of the Toy Story franchise.”

Hoth Bricks

It’s not all sunshine and rainbows when it comes to 43306 Lotso though, as a few reviewers have bemoaned the lack of any play features or even a Lotso minifigure, although that’s unlikely to deter dedicated fans of the Toy Story franchise.

“Of the three upcoming Toy Story sets, Lotso is probably the least exciting. It’s still an odd choice for a character to inspire a set, as there are many other Toy Story characters yet to appear in a LEGO set, but I’ve enjoyed building it, and it’s a fun little set, despite being yet another display-focused set with zero play features.”

Football Highlights

Theme: Editions Price: £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99 Pieces: 500, 490, 490 and 510 Release date: May 1, 2026

The LEGO Editions theme continues to expand, this time adding four new sets based on some of the biggest names in the beautiful game. 43011 Lionel Messi – Football Highlights, 43012 Cristiano Ronaldo – Football Highlights, 43013 Kylian Mbappé – Football Highlights and 43027 Vini Jr. – Football Highlights are brick-built dioramas that include minifigures based on their respective superstar players.

What are people saying?

No reviews of the upcoming LEGO Editions Football Highlights sets seem to have emerged at the time of this writing, but the reveal of the builds was greeted by a lack of interest from the community, even by many fans of the sport.

“I'm a big enough football fan, but I support none of the teams these players are on, have played for, or them individually.”

Ollib1304, Reddit

General reactions to the new LEGO Editions sets have also been decidedly mixed, with some thinking the models will most likely sell well in regions such as Europe where football is more popular, while others feel the builds could potentially be sat sitting on shelves for some time to come.

“I’m sorry those are terrible. Sports usually don’t translate really well into LEGO sets, and these are no exception. Just make little minifigs of them.”
