The Wizard of Oz and Percy Jackson join record-breaking LEGO Ideas review

Three more LEGO Ideas projects have raced to 10,000 votes as the recent TikTok-fuelled surge starts to slow down, giving The Wizard of Oz and Percy Jackson a shot at becoming future LEGO sets.

If three LEGO Ideas projects reaching the review stage in one go sounds like a lot, it’s probably a good time to catch up on the enormous surge that’s been going on lately, which saw 44 builds cross the line in just five days after a Pusheen project went viral on TikTok. By contrast, this latest batch is almost like the good old days of LEGO Ideas (a week ago), when projects would scrape through one after the other.

Take a closer look at all three below. They’re now part of the record-breaking second 2025 review, which so far includes 88 projects – and with a month and change to go until the qualifying window shuts, there’s plenty of time for it to hit triple digits…

Gorillaz – Plastic Beach

While music as a concept is no stranger to LEGO Ideas, JaoGosma’s tribute to Gorillaz is maybe a little bit too esoteric. The 2,998-piece build depicts the band’s one-time home and recording studio, which would probably translate to a set that costs in excess of £250. It’s a fine model and clearly has plenty of enthusiastic supporters on LEGO Ideas, but it’s tough to see this one making the cut.

The Wizard of Oz (1939)

BRICK PROJECT’s second LEGO Ideas submission to hit 10K in this review period pulls on the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz, using 1,550 pieces to recreate the Yellow Brick Road, the Emerald City, and various scenes from the original movie. The LEGO Group currently has its own Wicked theme on shelves, which could really either help or hinder the chances of this one getting the green light.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: Poseidon's Cabin

Percy Jackson has popped up in books, on the silver screen and most recently on Disney+ in a new TV series, and it’s from that latter medium that TrevorTheJ’s project takes inspiration. The builder describes it as a ‘passion project’ that took roughly a month and a half to design, and says LEGO and Percy Jackson are ‘a match waiting to happen’. Time will tell if the LEGO Ideas review board agrees…
