The future of LEGO Star Wars sculptures may be taking a turn with the retirement of helmets and debut of busts, but don't count helmets out yet.
The recent reveal of two new LEGO Star Wars busts, including
It wouldn't be surprising to see the theme do so. Marvel's range of helmets has yet to continue this year, and rumours suggest that the theme's only new sculptures will be busts instead. LEGO Marvel introduced busts in the summer of last year, and Star Wars is the second theme to adopt the range with the stylised stands.
The busts allow the LEGO designers to depict more of the character, though capturing the finer details is inherently more challenging due to the smaller scale. Whether busts or helmets are better will come down to personal preference. While no helmets are rumoured for LEGO Star Wars in 2026, we know that the collection hasn't ended.
Three new LEGO helmets have been confirmed for release this year, within Editions and Icons. Three more are rumoured for Editions, but take that with a pinch of salt for now. While LEGO Star Wars certainly could veer away from helmets in favour of busts in the future, the helmet range continues to live vicariously through other themes that have yet to adopt busts into their line-up.
For now, busts and helmets can live side-by-side in the portfolio, but time will tell whether a single theme can have both, or must pick a path. The new LEGO Star Wars busts will be released on April 26, 2026, and are up for pre-order now.
