LEGO Star Wars 75418 Advent Calendar 2025 review

This year's LEGO Star Wars advent calendar zeroes in on a droid workshop with the debut of Babu Frik, but struggles with pacing issues.

LEGO Star Wars is back for another annual advent calendar, leaning away from miniature ships to focus solely on droids. Unfortunately, this concept struggles to land for all but the most dedicated droid fans thanks to some pacing problems and a hefty price tag – but its exclusive characters and one unique character element may be enough to convince you to pick it up regardless.

The latest batch of 24 LEGO Star Wars builds launching for the Christmas season focuses on a droid workshop theme rather than an eclectic mix of iconic starships, miniature models and minifigures. This rare departure from the reliable formula is refreshing in theory, but in practice, some pacing problems limit its potential.

A droid workshop, by its inherent nature, has a lot of spare parts and droids. The included spare parts aren't interesting on their own, and while some can be combined to form an additional droid, they come across as much less exciting than other days' contents.

The door's droids include a WED Treadwell repair droid, a Super Battle Droid, a modified GNK unit and more. The variety of droids depicted is appealing, but all eyes will really be on the exclusive content in 75418 Advent Calendar. This includes the red-eyed C-3PO, a festive jumper-wearing Jawa, a snowball BB-8 and the exclusive Babu Frik piece.

These parts of 75418 Advent Calendar are fantastic, especially when you consider that Babu Frik is the first Anzellan in LEGO Star Wars, and the level of printing on offer overall is uncommon for the theme. And yet as great as these characters are, most of them are packed into the first few days of the calendar.

This only really affects the pacing of 75418 Advent Calendar, rather than the quality of its contents, but it's still worth addressing. It will also only be amplified when you're building over 24 days, and not 30 minutes as we did for this review. Getting the best parts of this advent calendar immediately may feel good in the short term, but it consequently means the following 20-plus days are much less exciting.

The overall character selection in 75418 Advent Calendar is good, making the most of the droid workshop theme, though it's hard not to miss the assortment of characters representing all kinds of species and eras seen in previous advent calendars. A departure from this almost too familiar formula is welcome, though. The LEGO Star Wars team have made the most of the droid workshop concept, even making it a touch more seasonal than recent LEGO Star Wars advent calendars.

Pacing problems aside, you're going to want 75418 Advent Calendar for at least Babu Frik, and possibly also the exclusive festive characters. Are they enough to warrant the price tag alone? That might be a Christmas miracle...
