LEGO Space Baby Astronaut and the problem with GWPs

LEGO Space Baby Astronaut and the problem with GWPs

The LEGO Group is set to launch 40767 Up-Scaled Baby Astronaut as a future GWP, but this might be a misfire for many LEGO fans.

40767 Up-Scaled Baby Astronaut will launch soon and, although the qualifying spend and dates are not yet public knowledge, we do know that it will be a GWP. Gifts-with-purchase are an extra incentive to buy certain sets or spend a certain amount, with a trio of free gifts coming with the recent May the 4th promotions, for example.

Made up of 250 pieces, the space baby has a red suit, complete with the classic Space logo on the front and an up-scaled LEGO smile. It's sure to be a winner among LEGO fans; however, the fact that 40767 Up-Scaled Baby Astronaut will only be available as a GWP will be disappointing to some fans who would want to just pick up the set as is.

Brick Fanatics' Matthew digs into this issue with making very desirable sets GWPs and how 40767 Up-Scaled Baby Astronaut might have pushed that boundary too far on this occasion.
