LEGO NINJAGO's 15th-anniversary minifigures are starting to make sense

LEGO NINJAGO's 15th anniversary minifigure theme may have been determined, and it would make sense considering what else is coming in 2026.

The first of LEGO NINJAGO's 15th-anniversary sets have been revealed, lifting the veil of the anniversary minifigure collection, in part. 71858 Four Weapons Blacksmith 15th Anniversary is confirmed to include a special minifigure of the earliest Elemental Master of Earth we've seen on-screen (Cole's grandfather).

The unnamed character was part of the Elemental Alliance, seen in flashbacks, and is pictured on the back of the set's box alongside a preview of the other six anniversary minifigures.

This graphic suggests that other members of the Elemental Alliance will make up the rest of the commemorative display. As we speculated earlier this week, the silhouettes line up with the designs of Hibernus (seen on the far left of the image below), young Wu and Garmadon (in the middle), and Libber (next to Hibernus in the back row), all of which would make sense to be released alongside Cole's grandfather.

There's at least one other reason to release minifigures of the Elemental Alliance next year, though. The speculated minifigure selection would line up nicely with another NINJAGO product coming next year.

The Strike of the Serpentine comic will be slithering to shelves on February 4, 2026, in the US, or a couple of weeks later in other regions. This comic will delve deeper into the war with the Serpentine from NINJAGO's history, featuring the Elemental Alliance.

71858 Four Weapons Blacksmith 15th Anniversary already includes three Elemental Alliance minifigures confirmed to be in the Strike of Serpentine comic – Ray, Maya, and Cole's grandfather. It's still too early to tell for certain, but it looks likely that this comic will be the inspiration for many of the minifigures coming out for NINJAGO's 15th anniversary next year.

It's a good example of synergy between LEGO sets and other products, and focusing on these rare characters would make sense for the theme's anniversary, similar to LEGO Star Wars in 2024.
