LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71047 Dungeons & Dragons is for all, not just DnD fans

LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71047 Dungeons & Dragons is for all, not just DnD fans

The LEGO Dungeons & Dragons Collectible Minifigures series may only be a rumour for now, but fans of DnD and LEGO alike are very excited about the possibilities.

According to the latest rumours from Promobricks’ maxbautde and redditor Clay_Bricks, we could soon expect 12 minifigures based on the fantastical world of Dungeons & Dragons. The line-up is an impressive array of monsters, characters, and more, offering a ton of possibilities for those wanting a brick-built DnD party or just some medieval fantasy-style minifigures.

Indeed, the response to even these early rumours of 71047 Dungeons & Dragons has been electric. Read on for a closer look at just what those in the community have been saying.

Two LEGO Collectible Minifigures series for 2024 pair nicely

Looking at what could be coming to LEGO Collectible Minifigures in 2024, it's a real treat for classic LEGO fans. The rumoured return of classic LEGO Space in 71046 paired with that medieval-style line-up in 71047 means we could be in for some fantastic designs for minifigures. LEGO Castle and Space are two of the most popular themes to come from the LEGO Grou and, with both being long-dormant, fans of them won't have had such a wide variety of quality minifigures for a while

"Both a Space and a Medieval Fantasy CMF in the same year?" wrote one reddit user. "We are reaching new levels of peak."

You don't need to be a DnD fan to love this series...

What's more, a large number of people who are complimenting the early details of 71047 Dungeons & Dragons aren't even fans of the roleplaying game.

"I've never played D&D but I love medieval fantasy and I'm going to be all over this," commented one LEGO fan on reddit, while another agreed: "I know absolutely nothing about D&D, but I am looking forward to the printing and new moulds these could have."

Dungeons & Dragons has gained greater exposure in recent years, thanks to 2023's Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves and the central role it plays in Netflix's hit series, Stranger Things. For those who only know this much about DnD, the intricate designs of the halflings, sorcerers, and more are still appealing: "My only exposure to D&D was the super fun 2023 movie and Stranger Things. That being said, I need all of these."

...but it helps

Nonetheless, even if the fantasy-esque minifigures are popular for DnD newbies, there's obviously a lot to love for long-term fans of the game. Indeed, some DnD players even use LEGO already to flesh out their sessions – and 71047 would only make this that much easier.

"As someone that uses LEGO for my DnD games, I'll be getting a full set of this, plus a few extra," agreed another DnD fan over on reddit.

71047 Dungeons & Dragons is ideal for mix-and-match

Not only would the LEGO Collectible Minifigures series lend itself well to games, but there's no reason to keep the minifigures as the LEGO Group intended them. Fancy a dwarven bard rather than an elf? Mix and match the accessories to make it happen. Indeed, the more minfiigures you buy, the more choice you'll have – and some people are planning to stock up.

"If this is for real, I'm buying a case," wrote one person, while another got excited about the potential: "I hadn't even thought about the mix-and-match possibilities. I think you just cost a bunch of people a bunch of money."

It's time for a LEGO DnD world

Of course, in true LEGO fan spirit, some people's minds have jumped immediately to what else could be coming. We already know that there will be a LEGO Ideas DnD set (with more details apparently coming soon) but could we be in for a full LEGO DnD theme if the LEGO Ideas and Collectible Minifigures launches go well? Fans certainly hope so.

"The Ideas set looks fantastic, and these Minifigures sound great," commented one person. "If they continue the theme this would make a beautiful world. LEGO might make a D&D fan of me."

With so much inspiration from DnD already out there, ideas are already flying about what could come from the theme. From more accessories to fill out a brick-built party to expanded sets picking out popular fantasy locations, the world is the LEGO team's oyster.

"Follow this up with a tavern where you can rearrange the tables, maybe swap out some banners, and a handful of interchangeable minifigure parts like the Harry Potter trunk or the table football sets, so we can create our own D&D party and replicate the classic "adventurers meet in a tavern" scenario," suggested one creative-thinking fan on reddit.

There are no unwanted minifigures in 71047 Dungeons & Dragons

All in all, the overwhelming response has been positive, with many, many people promising that this will be one of the LEGO Collectible Minifigures series that they'll buy in its entirety.

"This will be the first time I buy a whole case of a series," said one fan. "Usually I'll order one figure I want. Recently with the scanning trick I've bought a couple I want. But this sounds like every figure is perfect for my medieval fantasy focus."

"For all CMFs, I have always bought a few here and there that interested me. This might be the first time that I buy a full box," agreed another.

71047 Dungeons & Dragons is expected to launch in September and is rumoured to retail for €3.99 in Europe, matching the RRP of previous Collectible Minifigures ranges. Of course, we'll need to wait for official confirmation from the LEGO Group before we get too excited.
