LEGO Jurassic World 2025 sets could deliver a very different kind of dinosaur

The Jurassic World Rebirth trailer gave us a first glimpse of a very different kind of dinosaur, one that needs to join the LEGO Jurassic World summer line-up.

Universal Pictures dropped the first trailer for this summer’s Jurassic World Rebirth yesterday, giving fans a first look at the next chapter of the enduring dino-saga. The movie hits big screens around the globe on July 6 and focuses on a recovery team heading to an island that housed the original Jurassic Park’s research lab.

In addition, the LEGO Group also teased its own Jurassic World trailer today, which was followed by a sneak peek at four new dinosaurs that will be joining the LEGO Jurassic World line-up this summer.

The live-action trailer footage revealed plenty of familiar dinosaurs, such as a T. rex, Velociraptor, Dilophosaurus, Mosasaur, Pteranodons and many more. However, we also got to see something new and very different that might make for a potentially unique LEGO Jurassic World set.

Producer Frank Marshall has been chatting with Vanity Fair regarding Jurassic World Rebirth and discussed how the dinosaurs created in the island’s research lab have flourished and grown bigger.

“These are the dinosaurs that didn’t work. There’s some mutations in there,” says Marshall. “They’re all based on real dinosaur research, but they look a little different.”

In addition, director Gareth Edwards notes that one particular dinosaur briefly glimpsed in the Jurassic World Rebirth trailer was in fact a mix of a number of other famous movie monsters.

“When you make a creature, you get a big, massive pot and you pour in your favourite monsters from other films and books,” he reveals. “Some Rancor went in there, some H.R. Giger went in there, a little T. rex went in there…”, Edwards says of the new creature that has yet to be officially named.

What we can see of the new mutated dinosaur in the trailer gives us hope for an equally impressive brick-built version of the beast. We get a blink-and-you’ll miss it shot of one of the creature’s front limbs hitting the ground, the monster stalking Mahershala Ali’s character in a flare-lit night scene and a quick glimpse of the dino behind a sealed lab window.

Large-scale dinosaurs have appeared in a number of LEGO Jurassic World sets over the years, including the likes of 76949 Giganotosaurus & Therizinosaurus Attack, 76956 T. rex Breakout, 76961 Visitor Centre: T. rex & Raptor Attack and 76966 Dinosaur Missions: Allosaurus Transport Truck.

This summer’s rumoured LEGO Jurassic World models have yet to be confirmed, but as some of them seem to be based on the upcoming movie sequel, then the new prehistoric predator surely deserves to appear in at least one of those potential sets.

From its elongated scaley limbs and snub face to its slow, stalking movement and what appears to be a lack of any eyes, the creature could make for a truly striking LEGO build.

Of course, that remains pure speculation on our part for now, while we await official confirmation of any LEGO Jurassic World summer 2025 sets, but we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for the time being.
