The proof is in the pudding with LEGO Fortnite's launch, with millions of players flocking to play the new game mode in its first few days.
The hype for LEGO Fortnite was undeniable, with fans of both LEGO and Fortnite keen to see the results of the long-term partnership. Now that the launch is here, the player count numbers prove that it's not just talk: players are coming and staying to play the new collaboration. In fact, it's fast becoming one of the most popular game modes that Epic Games has produced.
Thanks to third-party tracker Fortnite.gg, LEGO Fortnite has had as many as 2,432,569 players taking part at its peak. That's the second most players for any game mode ever, by a clear one million players. It's only about 700,000 people off the peak for Fortnite's Battle Royale game, which has been around since the game's release back in 2017.
Seeing as LEGO Fortnite has only been out for two days at the time of writing, coming close to Battle Royale's peak numbers is an impressive feat. It'll be interesting to see whether the excitement for the collab holds strong. At the time of writing, 1,199,514 players are currently active in LEGO Fortnite, highlighting that people are certainly sticking around in LEGO Fortnite.
After all, there's plenty to do, from petting animals and crafting buildings to exploring the vast, open-world map. LEGO Fortnite is free to play, and available on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Android, and iOS.
