How have LEGO BrickLink Series 6 sets changed from concept to final design?

The LEGO Group has revealed the final sets that will be available to crowdfund in Series 6 of the BrickLink Designer Program – but how have they changed from the original submissions?

The longest phase of each round of the BrickLink Designer Program gives the fan designers chance to retool their models before they enter crowdfunding, tweaking designs, adding elements and taking others away. None of the sets so far have strayed too far from the core essence of their original designs, with perhaps the biggest recent outlier being the Wild West Train, which added an entire train car to the finalised model.

Now that BrickLink (which is owned by the LEGO Group) has pulled back the curtain on the finished sets for Series 6, let’s compare them to their original concepts to see if and how each one has changed.

Outlaw Forest Den

Price: $229.99 / €229.99 Designer: BrickHammer

On the whole, there’s not much separating BrickHammer’s original Outlaw Forest Den and their final version (even if it appears so at first glance, because BrickLink’s mock-up shows off a slightly different angle to the main image of the original design). The main differences are the addition of a pair of Lion Knight minifigures, an extra horse, two of the new wolf elements from Series 27’s Wolfpack Beastmaster, and what looks to be some sort of assassin minifigure.

Off-road Adventure

Price: $79.99 / €79.99 Designer: KingCreations

There’s a slightly more significant change to KingCreations’ Off-road Adventure, which now features an additional section of built-up terrain at the back left, with an extra minifigure on a mountain bike for good measure. The shape of the base has also shifted a little on the right-hand side, so the finished model appears to be shallower but wider than the original design.

Gold Mine Expedition

Price: $299.99 / €299.99 Designer: Brickproject

You don’t need to look too closely to spot the differences between Brickproject’s original Gold Mine Expedition and the finished design. The foliage that previously offered a greater pop of colour has been pared back for the final model, and in its place there’s now a brand new horse and covered wagon to flesh out the Western setting. Minor tweaks elsewhere include a shorter outcropping beneath the ‘Brick Creek’ sign and a less part-intensive base.

The Art Factory

Price: $229.99 / €229.99 Designer: Brickester

Brickester’s The Art Factory looks pretty much identical to the original submission, to the point that it really only appears to be the minifigures that have changed. We might see more substantial differences on the interior once BrickLink publishes more images of the finished model, but as it stands anyone who voted for this one originally should be pretty happy with the version going up for crowdfunding.

Sequoia Tree Trail

Price: $269.99 / €269.99 Designer: Piece_On_Earth

As you’d imagine for a set so focused on trees, Piece_On_Earth has apparently spent most of the past few months refining the branches and leaves of their tallest sequoias. Those are the only notable changes between the two designs beyond (once again) the minifigures, so while we don’t have a final part count yet, it’s likely to be pretty close to the original model’s 3,035 pieces.

All five of these BrickLink Designer Program sets will be available to pre-order when crowdfunding begins on October 6 at 4pm UK time. Any that reach at least 3,000 backers will enter production, with shipping expected to take place from March 2026.
