Take a closer look at LEGO Castle’s new Horse and Serpent Knight factions, which are available now in 31168 Medieval Horse Knight Castle.
The LEGO Group has debuted four different castle factions in 2025, starting with the Griffin Knights and Kraken Warriors in 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine earlier this summer. They’re now joined by the Horse Knights and Serpent Knights in LEGO Creator 3-in-1 31168 Medieval Horse Knight Castle, which is a spiritual successor to the recently-retired 31120 Medieval Castle.
You can order the new 3-in-1 fortress from LEGO.com right now for £109.99 / $129.99 / €119.99, but in the meantime here’s a closer look at each of its new minifigures…
LEGO Horse Knights
31168 Medieval Horse Knight Castle belongs – as the name suggests – to the Horse Knights, so they take centre stage here. Included in the box are a Horse Knight king, Horse Knight spearman, Horse Knight archer and Horse Knight champion, each dressed in the colours of their faction.
Those hues are silver, white and blue, with dark tan accents across their crest, torso and legs. It’s a fresh colour scheme for LEGO Castle factions but not necessarily brand new for medieval-era minifigures, as a similar approach can be found on 71047 Dungeons & Dragons’ Dragonborn Paladin. The white print on the Horse Knights’ outfits is much crisper, though.
And it does stand out against more traditional LEGO Castle factions, including the Black Falcons and Lion Knights, for a different flavour of medieval knight that still feels like part of the same universe (thanks to its complementary design language). The King’s torso is suitably a bit fancier, and he comes complete with a cape and a dual-moulded hairpiece with crown.
LEGO Serpent Knights
Facing off against the band of Horse Knights in 31168 Medieval Horse Knight Castle is a lone Serpent Knight, who comes across very much as the villain of the piece in a menacing black and yellow getup. (That moustache is ripe for twirling, too.) It’s a shame to only get one of these guys in the set given how well-designed he is, complete with printed legs, purple highlights and a bright yellow helmet plume.
Fingers crossed he shows up on Pick a Brick in a few months (same goes for the Horse Knights too), especially in a one-click bundle like those that have just gone live over on LEGO.com for the Lion Knights, Magenta Knights and various other Castle, Vikings and Pirates minifigures. Even if you’re content with 31168 Medieval Horse Knight Castle as it comes in the box, you’re going to want more Serpent Knights for a proper siege…
